Frequently Asked Questions

We have put together a list of the most frequently asked questions that we receive here at NCG. Please take a look at the list below to see if your question is answered. If you have a question that isn't listed below, you can email us at info@newcoventgardenfood.com.

Q. Are your cartons recyclable?

Yes, although not with your normal paper and card recycling due to the thin plastic coating that exists on the inside and outside of the cartons to help protect the soup. Around 8 out of 10 local authorities now have the facilities to recycle cartons. Take them along to your local recycling centre and look for the bin marked "tetra cartons". There's also a growing number of kerbside collections available as part of your regular recycled waste collection. Enter your postcode at www.recyclenow.com to find out what facilities exist in your area.

Q: Are your meat products affected by the Irish meat contamination which has just hit the news?

Dioxins in Irish meat products - we (New Covent Garden Food Company) would like to assure you that our entire range of products are free from any Irish meat products which are associated with the dioxin contamination.

Q: Where can I buy your products?

You'll find our fresh soups and sauces in the chiller cabinets of most major supermarkets, Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, Somerfield, Asda, Budgens, Co-op, Safeway, Waitrose etc. For a complete list of where you can buy our products from click here.

Q: I'm a vegetarian, are any of your soups suitable for me to eat?

Many of our fresh soups and sauces are suitable for vegetarians, click here to read our special diets page.

Q: Can I freeze your fresh soups?

Our fresh soups are best eaten fresh, however they can be frozen for up to 1 month.

Q: I would really like to come and work for NCG, do you have any job vacancies?

Check out our working with us section of this website to see what vacancies we have available at the minute.

Q: I find your cartons difficult to open, is there an easy way to open them?

Most people have a tendency to open our cartons in the same manner as the old milk carton, however we recommend that both sides are opened back, once you've done this you can then pull open the pack diagonally from opposite corners, thus giving you a fully opened top of the carton. Making it so much easier to get to our delicious soups.

Q: Do your fresh soups contain additives or preservatives?

Our products contain all natural ingredients and are free from artificial additives and preservatives.

Q: I've created a recipe using one of your soups, would you be interested in seeing it?

Most definitely, we love to hear from our consumers and we occasionally publish the creative and interesting ones on our website so you never know you could see your recipe up there on the screen! Feel free to send in your recipe and we'll enjoy reading it.

Q: Can your soups be eaten cold?"

All our soups are 'safe' to be eaten cold as they have already been through the cooking process prior to packaging. However, with the thicker, meaty soups, these have been designed to be eaten hot as the heat enhances the flavour and consistency.
